Coleman Ranks in NAIA National Championship
Jasmine Coleman recently competed in the Fifty-Eighth Annual National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Women’s Track and Field National Championship in Edwardsville, IL May 21-23, 2009.
Going into the competition, she was ranked 26 and finished 13 out of 27 in the women’s long jump. According to Coach Rodney Johnson, “This year’s competitors were one of the top groups in the NAIA long jump and most of them were Freshmen and Sophomores.”
Coleman, a freshman mathematics major from Fayetteville, NC, is a Morris College honor student and is a scholar with the college’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities-Undergraduate Program (HBCU-UP). In addition to her participation on the track and field team, she is also a member of the Morris College Lady Hornets basketball team.
