Morris College will hold its Annual Fall Harvest Worship Service and Rally on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in the Garrick-Boykin Human Development Center. Dr. Benjamin D. Snoddy will deliver the address.
Snoddy is president of the Baptist E & M Convention of South Carolina, a member of the Morris College Board of Trustees and senior pastor of the Mount Mariah Baptist Church in Spartanburg, SC. He earned an undergraduate degree in teacher education from Claflin University and a master’s degree from the Morehouse School of Religion at the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta. He did further study in the doctoral program at McCormick Theological Seminary of Chicago, Ill. He received the honorary Doctor of Divinity Degree from Morris College in 1992.
His many accomplishments include past chairman of the board of commissioners for Spartanburg Technical College, Claflin University Hall of Fame, Order of the Palmetto recipient, Urban League’s Whitney Young Humanitarian Award and Martin Luther King Jr. Board of Preachers at Morehouse College. He is an assistant dean of the National Baptist Congress of Christian Education and serves on the Board of Directors of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc.
The Annual Morris College Fall Harvest Parade will begin at 1:00 p.m. at Harvin at Bartlett Streets. The parade will proceed to Calhoun Street, turn left on Calhoun to Main Street, and then travel north to College Street.
The Annual Fall Harvest Rally is the colleges’ major fund raising event.
