Dr. Glover provides the “ultimate in inspiration” during Freshman Class assembly
“Soar Like an Eagle: Great Expectations in an Extreme World,” was the theme for this year’s Freshman class assembly. As echoed by President Richardson, yesterday’s assembly was, “a fitting program to end the academic year.” The speaker of the hour was Dr. Maggie Wallace Glover, Director of the HBCU-UP Testing-Learning Center.
For the basis of her message, Glover used the familiar story of “The Eagles who Thought They were Chickens” by Mychal Wynn to deliver what President Richardson said was the “ultimate in inspiration.” In this story, Wynn challenges everyone to rethink how they see themselves and to embrace the impossible.
“It is time to ’eagle-up’ everyone” she declared. “You have the power to fly.” As she continued to provide inspiration and motivation to all in attendance, Glover told the audience to, “think and know who you are and whose you are; pray—ask for what you want out of life; and dare to stand up, spread your wings, and step out on faith.”
